My solution to slow iPhone / iPad backups
I unplugged my Digital Concepts Card Reader (model no. CR-70R).
My iPhone was taking 12+ hours to backup. iTunes would write it’s .mdinfo and .mddata files at the rate of about 2 per minute.
Search the internet for “slow iPhone backups” and you’ll find as many different solutions as Google returns hits. None were working for me.
On a hunch, I started unplugging other USB devices. The moment I unplugged this card reader, the backup files began appearing at the rate of about 300 a minute.
Try unplugging those devices!
